Welcome to Borovets, here’s where your holiday begins! We hope that everything in this apartment is to your expectations and that you enjoy your stay in. This booklet has been made by Balkan-PMS in order to help you do so.

Balkan-PMS (Property Management Services)

If you have any problems during your stay please contact the Balkan-PMS team, our office is situated in the resort of Borovets – the Rila Hotel, shop ¹ 7. The office will be open every day from 09.00 am till 18.00 pm and there will be NO DAY OFF. There will be a contact person in HUNTERS restaurant all day during the winter season and in Hunters depot in Flora Clover building as well. During the rest of the year our main office is open from 09.00 am till 18.00 pm every day except Saturday and Sunday and is based in Samokov Town center. Address below:

Hunters

Here you will find hospitality, delicious food, excellent drinks and friendly people who will make you feel at home!
Directions: You will find it when entering the resort, it’s on your left hand side. When you see Mura Hotel walk about 5 m up the road and you will see it. Here you will be able to enjoy the cosy and warm atmosphere and the genuine hospitality of the infamous Serma & Christo. You can come just to have a drink or to try the delicious Bulgarian dishes offered here.
But be aware, during peak season you will have to book in advance.

Hrima

Directions: It is situated just across the Flora Complex.
Another place where you can feel the Bulgarian spirit and where you can hide from the cold in the winter evenings! A must to try is the special (Wild Boar Stew) not a stew as we know it, but large chunks of meat with rice and gravy…. Yummm
But be aware, during peak season you will have to book in advance.

How to find the...

Resort Centre

The centre of the resort has moved to the area of the Samokov and Rila Hotels, which are just few meters away from the Gondola lift and very close to the complexes Royal Plaza and Flora.
However, some years ago the centre was situated where the newly-built complex Vila Park is.

Food Shops

The nearest food shops you can find are situated in the hotels Rila & Royal Plaza. Also cross from the Royal Plaza there is a 24 hour shop. For the chalets turn right and you will find a shop on the corner at the end of the road.. On your left hand side as if walking up to the gondola.

Gondola

The gondola is situated in the heart of the resort before the Flora Complex and above the Samokov Hotel. It is just a few min walk from the Royal Plaza, turn right for the Gondola and left for ski school. For the Flora, just walk down the hill approx 5 min walk..

Making a Phone Call

Calling abroad from your mobile can be very expensive! You can make a phone call from a pay phone using one of two systems.

  1. The service run by the post office allows you to call using a phone card from the dark red telephone booths. Cards for these phones can be purchased in shops all over Borovets and Samokov.
  2. The Betkom system operates from the blue phone booths and again cards for this can be purchased from local shops. The Betkom system is said to be superior and more reliable for making international calls.

Internet Access

In Borovets there is wireless Internet in the Rila Hotel lobby

Cash Machines

There are lots of cash machines situated all over Borovets, you will not struggle to find one.

Spa Facilities

Summer Season:

Outdoor Pools

If you are willing to see some more of the region in the summer, you can visit the outdoor pool in the village of Belchin Bani. This is about 20 km away from Borovets. The pool is filled from the mineral springs which is famous for its healing qualities. Being a large outdoor complex, there is lots to do here.

There is a choice of fishing, around Borovets. You can do it the traditional way and take your chances in the Iskar Dam, on the way to Sofia. Alternatively, there is a fish farm on the way from Samokov to Borovets, where you are guaranteed a catch, but you will have to pay for it afterwards.

Bulgaria boasts some of the best mountain scenery in Europe, with many unspoiled areas in the Rila Mountain range, here in Borovets.
If you are willing to you can also try to climb the Musala Peak, which is the highest peak on the Balkans. You don’t have to worry about a guide as there is a tourist route which is not difficult to follow.
Only 20 km away from Borovets you will find another peak to ‘conquer’ – the Malyovitsa peak. There you can also enjoy rock climbing.

Golf fanatics can enjoy the golf course near the town of Dolna Banya ‘Ibar’ – a small town about 50 km from Borovets. There you will also find swimming pool, football field, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts.

We can arrange for you a safari to the lakes. These are situated high in the Rila Mountain and you must know that there are not many places that can offer you such astonishing beauty and serenity. This is something you shouldn’t miss during your stay, while in Bulgaria!

 

 

Rila Monastery

Rila Monastery is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bulgaria. It is situated in the Rila Mountain range, approximately 70 km away from Borovets. Founded in the 10th centaury it is regarded as an important site of Bulgarian Heritage. On sight there is also a museum & library for visitors. It will charm you for there you will be able to perceive the spirit of the Monastery and you will see the majesty of this unearthly place!

You can also visit the neighbouring villages like Beli Iskar, Mala Tsarkva and Govedartsi. These villages having kept their Bulgarian traditions –with the churches, the small restaurants and cafés, and the peace and calmness, where you can appreciate the traditional Bulgarian spirit.
There is another place where you will be able to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the mountain in the summer – the Iskar Lake, which is a few minutes drive from Borovets – it offers summer sports, fishing, sun-bathing in the mountains and swimming!
