PICT1907.JPGOver the Christmas period we had a very kind and thoughtful family staying in one of the villas that we manage, Ishbel, Chris, Marguerite, Paige, Jade and Scott. They wanted to give something to a local charity and we made them aware of the orphanage in Samokov which looks after 42 children aged between 4 and 16 years old. The family prepared individual gifts of sweets, biscuits, fruit and books for all the children and also presents for the staff. Unfortunately it was not possible to visit over the Christmas and New Year period so the gifts were left with us to deliver. Ishbel left a letter to the children at the orphanage and this is an excerpt from it: Christmas is a time of giving and people tend to forget the less fortunate.  We as a family try not to do this and that is why we have sent a small something for each of you as a little bit of a treat to show that you are not forgotten and hopefully that you will enjoy.  Also something for the people who look after you – they are special people who give their time, care and love to look after you and ensure your happiness. We are sorry not to have met you all, something we would really liked to have done but we had to return home to the United Kingdom.   We do hope to return some day – you have a beautiful country where people are very friendly.  PICT1924.JPG

The presents were delivered by Plamena and Lilly and we also took some photographs to send back to Ishbel and the family with a short letter, and below is a short excerpt from it: I went to the orphanage with Plamena and Lilly, the girls from Stefan's office, and we delivered your presents. The Director read out your letter and you could see that she was quite emotional and I am sure there were tears in her eyes. The children were very excited and certainly appreciated your kindness. What made me realise how little they have was that after we left the orphanage, Plamena said that they were so pleased with the plastic washing bowls that you had put the presents in. The Director told Plamena that they don't have anything like that and the children use plastic bottles to wash themselves. This is part of the reply from Ishbel: Yes we got the email and the pictures - they are lovely - thank you.  It kind of putt’s life into perspective when you think what we did was such a little thing in the big scheme of things!  I wish we could have done more.  Please tell the children they are very welcome.  It was a bit of a shock when you said that they have to wash with bottles - maybe if we sent some money over to at least buy them a washbowl and flannel each.  What do you think? We are having a think about what else we can do - I may have someone who can freight over a box of the kid’s clothes they have outgrown to Sofia.  If I can arrange that and have it addressed to either yourself or Stefan, do you think it would be possible for it to be collected from the airport and taken back to them?  PICT1926.JPG

As a company we would like to continue the good work started by Ishbel and her family, please ‘e’ mail us if you would like to help the children at the orphanage.
